Do,s anyone know, or can anyone reccommend a Campsite that is suitable for RV,s near Blackpool?

Last year we stayed at "Marton Mere Caravan Park" Blackpool, nice site with good bus connection to Blackpool center .Not sure if they have any restrictions on length , as we are only 8m .

Blackpool south Camping Club site, we got on with ease, the CC say only 9m but some pitches could take 36', if you phone the site direct you may get booked in, all depends on the wardens.

Windy Harbour is another possibility, we were there with the 3C's a couple of years ago on the rally field, and looked around the camping area, 1 or 2 pitches only could take perhaps 36'.

Lytham St Annes are allowing motorhomes to overnight in the carpark behind the swimming pool but it ain't cheap.

Motorhomes will be able to stay at St Annes-on-Sea, which is on the Lancashire coast just south of Blackpool, after the council confirmed it will open one of its seafront car parks to motorhomes this spring

Fylde Council, which controls the car park, said motorhomers will be able to stay for up to three nights at the car park during a pilot scheme that will last to the end of summer.

The car park is at the rear of St Annes’ swimming pool – selected as it offers good sea views while not being visible from the road.

“Motorhomers are good, responsible citizens and tend to be prosperous, Councillor Albert Pounder, Fylde Council cabinet member for Customer and Operational Services, said.

“Many come at the moment but they have to go home at the end of the day. From this spring they will be able to make a weekend of their visit and, we expect, they will spend money in shops, cafes and restaurants.

“They tend to be people who have good disposable incomes – exactly the sort of people we need for the tourism business in the area.

“In France, many towns have ‘aires’. They are places where motorhomers can stay overnight and they typically have electricity hook-ups and running water. You can drive from one end of France to the other by staying in aires.

“Fylde will be one of the first places in England to have one of these continental-style areas and we know there is already interest within the motorhoming community.”

The swimming pool car park will not have electricity and water hook-ups. If this summer’s trial is a success, such facilities will be considered for future years – as will possible use of other car-parks. Caravans will continue to be banned.

Behaviour will be monitored while charges for overnight stays are yet to be decided. A three-night limit will be imposed to protect local hoteliers.

Councillor Pounder added: “There has been a problem in recent years with motorhomes parking on the roads which is suitable for neither residents nor motorhomers.

“We hope this trial period will make a positive out of a negative – we can get them off the road while using one of our existing assets at no cost to the Council Tax-payer.

“Motorhoming has grown very fast in recent years and we want Fylde to be at its forefront.”

Hi Jimbob The last time we stopped at cc site at Blackpool there was no bus service thats a while ago and it might have altered by now because it quite away out of Blackpool.We have stayed at Farmer Parrs site on an MCC rally and there was loads of room its just on the outskirts of Fleetwood and a bus service and tram service near by.The bestwe have stayed on is Hampton Road Caravan Park FY4 1JB.This site is right behind the pleasure beach but its a tight fitand worth looking at before going

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies, I have spoken to Marton Mere, Blackpool South and Windy Harbour and quiet a few others, and they all said no as soon
as I said RV.
I was after a site for a rally later in the year, but I reckon I will have to visit the area to check if we can get in anywhere for next year.

Hi jimbob farmer parrs is ok for a rally plenty of room and i think they have a room.There is a school at Lytham that the C&CC and MCC use for rallys which is very handy for Blackpool

Hi Jimbob do you mean Blackpool south said no to your RV because of its size, or no to a rally.

Just looked on the CC site, Blackpool South is listed as 9m max, that's a load of crap, just look at the pitches in this link: http://g.co/maps/r6arf We got on with ease as I said, some of those rear pitches by the looks could take a 40'.
