I live in France and I am in the process of buying an RV currently registered in the UK, but which I would like to register in France. Has anybody done this?

From what I have heard from a number of different people, you cannot register an RV in France unless you are on first name terms with the French President!

I suggest you speak to Bob and Di Banks from http://www.parcverger.com. They used to drive an RV in Europe and then settled down to run an RV friendly site in Limoussin.

It may also be worth talking to Stingray RV. They have an RV sales operation in France so assume if they are selling them in France they must have a way of registering them in France.

Got to be worth a call

I remember years ago there was a fellah very prominent in the arv uk world that has a stopover in france i remember him saying it was just about impossible to register an rv in france , so it is interesting that a rv dealer is selling from there

Oh yes, probably the most tenacious individual I've ever met. Took on a number of crusades including Sky over the use of cards in second boxes. Think he gave up on that one as well.

One has to ask "Has he actually sold an RV to a French citizen, currently domiciled in France?" and if so he should be able to help with the OP's question...

HI

Can not be done, you will need a certificate of conformity , which american motorhomes do not have, even if its registered in another EU member state uk germany etc can still not be done, many have tried.

A few of you will remember Richard Waldridge he tried for years and was very well connected and lived in France but gave up with all the red tape.
Have sold this year a used knight and they will be leaving on uk plates and having it mot every year.

ON Google the stingray.fr address is a car park/water works? must be a new way of selling motorhomes that i have not learnt yet!!!

I think the guy your thinking of is Ray Nipper, he did indeed say you needed to be related to the French president to register an rv.
